The suppliers of Achhnera and Mathura were providing SIMs and accounts to the digital arrest and fraud gang of Delhi and Mewat. STF Agra unit arrested Shahrukh, a member of the gang, on Wednesday night. 10 SIMs and ATM cards of 14 accounts have been recovered from him. His companion managed to escape.
STF Inspector said that cyber thugs active in Delhi and Mewat had received information about sale of SIM from Agra. STF team was engaged in investigation on this. I-10 car was stopped on Kendriya Hindi Sansthan Road, Khandari on Wednesday night. There were two youths in it. One ran away, the other was captured. The arrested youth is Shahrukh, resident of Achhnera. 10 activated SIMs and 14 ATM cards were recovered from him.
During interrogation it was revealed that Shahrukh deals in scrap. His brother MK lives in Delhi. There is also kinship in Mewat, Haryana. Due to this he came in contact with cyber criminals. He, along with Tejveer, a resident of Mathura, used to provide SIMs to criminals.
By luring the working class people of rural areas with money, he used to get bank accounts opened in their names. He used to give them Rs 2 to 5 thousand. After linking the SIM taken from the accounts to their ID, he used to make it available to cyber thugs. Cyber criminals used to transfer the defrauded money from people into these accounts. The SIMs were used to activate UPI ID and make WhatsApp calls to people. A case has been registered in New Agra police station.
Gang was trapping less educated people
Police said that the gang was trapping less educated people. He took advantage of their helplessness and lured them. SIMs were purchased using his ID. Later, bank accounts were opened. In return the amount was given once. Cyber thugs used to transfer the money to these accounts. The police used to knock on the address of the account holder. But, being a labourer, she was not able to take any action.
Gang caught earlier also in Achhnera
The accused have already been caught in Agra for selling active SIM on fake ID. Three youths resident of Jagdishpura in Delhi were caught. He used to provide the consignment of SIMs supplied abroad to the gang. Many accused have been caught in cyber fraud in Achhnera. Police said that many families of the town have relatives in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Many cyber fraud gangs are active in Bharatpur. For this reason many youth of Achhnera are also supporting these gangs.
